Farewell My Friend!

Whenever I visit Sacramento, California, friends know that the first place I want to visit is Amarin's downtown. The Barbecue Chicken, so wonderful along with a heavy dose of Shrimp Pad Thai; this establishment has always been one of my all time favorite restaurants. The food was like a long lost friend. It is the type of place that caused me to order way too much food, on purpose, all for the deliberate act of enjoying it for breakfast, lunch and possibly dinner. In fact, the food was so good, I had no problem eating it for at least two days in a row, with naps in between. Which sometimes got on the nerves of those I was visiting! Sadly, due to recent state cutbacks and work furlough programs for state employees, Amarin's closed their doors, after 27 years of being in business. Once I heard the news, it was hard for me to believe and it still is. Farewell my dear friend. Hopefully, we will meet again.

Amarin Thai Cuisine

Renown for their delicious Thai food and extensive menu, locals know to head to Amarin's early to beat the weekend rush. The Barbecue Chicken is a beautifully roasted Garlic infused Chicken, with a fantastic Barbecue sauce that is served on the side. The serving is a whole chicken cut into sections and perfect for sharing with your table. The Barbecue sauce is not what one would think of as a traditional sauce and it almost appears as a gel. But once it is spread onto the tender Chicken it adds a smokey flavor that is hard to beat. Paired with the Shrimp Pad Thai, it is just out of this world! The Shrimp are plump and burst in your mouth while the Pad Thai is perfectly cooked and served with several condiments, such as chopped peanuts or red chili upon request.
